  • Herpesvirus PCR
    Code: 424
    Specimens:

Canine: 1mL fluid (from older dogs) can be nasal, vaginal, or oropharyngeal secretions. Aseptically collect body fluid. Transfer body fluid into a leak-proof tube. If sending different tissue types please clearly label the tissue on the container. Feline: Swabs should be nasal AND conjunctival. Synthetic swabs are recommended for sample collection. Swabs should be placed in a viral transport system. A complete specimen collection and transport system is also available (Viral Culturette, Becton Dickinson).Do not use Amies agar with or without charcoal. Place synthetic swabs (rather than cotton) in a leak-proof tube with 0.5-1ml saline or PBS. Tissue should be trachea. Collect tissue sample in a leak-proof container. If sending different tissue types please clearly label the tissue on the container.
